Bilston & Battersea Enamels leads the industry in ensuring the Georgian art of enamelling is not only preserved but is rejuvenated for the future. The exceptionally fine enamel boxes made and painted by artists in small ateliers in Battersea, London and Bilston, West Midlands in the 18th century are revered by connoisseurs today. But the skill of enamelling on copper virtually disappeared during the 19th century, with only a small number of craftsmen surviving in the Bilston area. When it was founded forty years ago, Bilston & Battersea Enamels was able to draw on the knowledge and the age old traditions handed down through the generations, literally from father to son, by these artisans.

Four decades later and with a worldwide reputation for prestigious and lavish enamels, Bilston & Battersea continue to make exquisite boxes in the style of highly prized 18th century examples as well as adding contemporary designs relevant to 21st century lifestyles. Bespoke enamels reproducing unique works of art or commemorating an event can also be commissioned as a one-off or as a limited edition ensuring these images and moments are preserved for eternity. Because of its heritage and superb artistry the company has secured licences to paint enamels inspired by the famous characters and designs created by A A Milne and E H Shepard, Beatrix Potter, Cicely Mary Barker and Jim Shore. 2009 sees additions to this already prestigious list with works by Trisha Romance, Thomas Kinkade, Nel Whatmore, Mark Spain, Guinness, Lilliput Lane and Walt Disney as presented here.
