Fairies & Angels

Fairies may be seen wherever the flowers bloom or the grasses grow, wherever a toadstool sprouts from the earth, a tree embraces the sky or a river makes its journey to the ocean. It is here, where the fairy world resembles most the world of man, that the veil between the two worlds is at its most thin and it is here that fairies are most readily to be seen. For those humans lucky enough to catch a glimpse of them, their lives are touched with magic as surely as frost gilds a spider's web with spun silver, and their lives are never the same.

The most well-known fairies in popular culture are perhaps the ones made famous by Walt Disney. Most notable examples are Tinker Bell or Tinkerbell, from Walt Disney's adaptation of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan stories. While in Carlo Collodi's tale, Pinocchio, a wooden boy receives the gift of real life from a fairy described as the "lovely maiden with azure hair", later dubbed the "Blue Fairy" for Disney's adaptation. Who can forget the magic of the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella, whose wave of the wand turns a pumpkin into a coach, mice into horses, a rat in to a coachman, and lizards into footmen. Thus, leading to the quintessential Disney love story.

Old Tupton Ware's artwork is skilfully drawn onto the product followed by hand-crafted tube lining giving the raised effect much admired.
